Director
Papua New Guinean born-New Zealander, Veialu Aila-Unsworth, has spent the last ten years mixing academic study with work in the Australian and New Zealand film & TV industries.
During the 12 months it took to create her short animated film Blue Willow, she also directed several other projects as part of a Master of Theatre Arts in Directing.
Veialu began her career in Auckland, where she completed a Degree in Communication Studies before working as a TV Promotions Director/Producer at TV3. She was also selected for "Ideas School" as a copywriter.
After traveling overseas to the USA and Europe she then based herself in Sydney, working at one of Australia's 3 largest TV Networks, Channel TEN. During this time she won a Gold Promax Award.
Veialu continued to develop her writing skills in Wellington as a journalist and also completed a Master of Creative Writing (scriptwriting).
On her return to Sydney in 2006, she joined Channel TEN once again.
In 2009 she made the move to the NINE Network in Sydney.
"Sinebada" is her next short film in development.
